Dvico 6500a running full bluray rip files with menu!!!!!

Here is a quick review of dvico 6500a full bluray rip support. I went ahead and update my dvico to the alpha firmware version 99.3.85. But i use a slightly special firmware supposely does not have the 100 files lock for bluray rip files from http://www.binary-art.net/.

Binary-art has split the firmware into two segments, one that is burn into the chip and the other resides on the hard drive. Binary mentions that the flash chip in the dvico is only 64mb and its almost filled to the brink so that is why he has to do this methods. Download the two programs from his website.

Place the firmware into the hard drive, and the other directories with files into the hard drive too. Switch on the dvico. Look for the firmware and press it to activate it (obviously read n follow instruction carefully .. don’t want to brick this expensive puppy).

About to reboot

A screen will pop out to tell you that it is erasing the old firmware. When that is done it will start loading new firmware.

Tried three times more …same irritating black screen!!!!!!

Than i realise what might be a problem. Could it be the way I copied the files into dvico.. went and check the folders.. ooooohhhh bloody hell the three folders inside got the same folder too.. delete it and made only one folder for each..

Went and On the dvico again cross finger …

100 files warning screen from firmware again.. and than… orgasm.. FBI warning came out..(don’t u miss that warning screen after you move to only watching mkvs and avis)
and the file started playing .. Booooooyaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! i

ok enough.. hit title button on the remote … woh lah .. the menu came out .. able to select this and that..

Again this is only alpha or beta firmware (somemore modified one too) .. Forum says not all bluray will play well.. and some quirks here and there…

Not to sure on this but after watching the counter go down to around 90 files (if i remember right) .. i went to switch off the dvico and on it again..Played the bluray file again and counter went back to 100. This might be the cause of the special firmware created by binary.

Also the DTV icon on the dvico screen is not highlighted so is the icon in the setup menu. I am not able to activate the digital tv on dvico because of this. But reading some threads the workaround is to click tv on the remote first when starting so its start first with digital tv. Other workarounds involves modifying dvico startup process.

In order for me to test more i need to get a bluray drive to rip more stuff from my bluray collection. So stay tune for more !!!!!!
